Ivywild

Legacy of Innovation & Community
Established in 1888 by rancher and miner William B. Jenkins, Ivywild began as a modest suburb just south of Colorado Springs. Named by Jenkins' wife, Annie, the neighborhood quickly developed its own identity, featuring attractions like Boulevard Park—a baseball venue for the Colorado Springs Millionaires—and the Cheyenne Springs Park and Zoo, a short-lived amusement park built in 1906.

Historic Preservation
Ivywild takes pride in preserving its historical charm while embracing innovation. Many of the buildings in the neighborhood have been carefully restored, maintaining their original character. The neighborhood boasts several community gardens, where residents come together to cultivate flowers, herbs, and vegetables, fostering a sense of community and shared purpose.

Iconic Landmark
At the heart of Ivywild's history is the Ivywild School, a beautifully restored elementary school building that has become a cultural and culinary hub. The school was built in 1916 and has played a central role in the neighborhood's development.
Ivywild School closed its doors in 2009 but was given a new lease on life when it was transformed into the Ivywild School Marketplace. Today, this historic building houses a mix of artisanal food producers, a brewery, bakery, and an events center, making it a vibrant community gathering place.

A Growing Ivywild Tradition
An Ivywild favorite, the annual Garden Art Toure invites the community to explore hidden backyard gardens filled with local art. Hosted by neighbors and artists, this walkable event blends creativity, connection, and neighborhood pride — with proceeds supporting future public art in Ivywild.
