Woodland Park
Just 25 minutes west of Manitou Springs, sits the quaint, diverse town of Woodland Park. With just over 7,000 inhabitants it is the perfect place to call home. If you are a skier, you just moved 30 minutes closer to the mountains and you never have to touch I70 on a Sunday again! Woodland Park continues to grow while keeping a small town feeling in mind. In the past year, Woodland Park has added a local brewery with an outdoor fire pit as well as a new outdoor concert stage. There are always local events to attend, and you always see friendly faces out in the community. Whether you get involved at a local church, non-profit, or in the school festivities, you will quickly be introduced to others your age, and your kids, so that you truly feel this has been your home forever.
In addition to the great sense of community, there are several outdoor escapes out your back door. Many neighborhoods border National Forest, making a trail literally right around the corner. In addition, Pikes Peak, Green Mountain Falls, Rampart Reservoir and much more is no more than a 20 minute drive away. Not to mention that your favorite breakfast locations are right downtown (who hasn't been to the Hungry Bear or the Donut Mill?) to get you fired up for a good day outdoors. Woodland Park is also very dog friendly. While there is no dog park, yet, most families have at least one dog and in my neighborhood, there are many that know my dog's name better than mine and our dog has dog friends on each side of our fenced-in yard!
While most Woodland Park residents commute to Colorado Springs for work, the pass is always cleared, so travel is pretty easy.
